René Daveluy's professional ballet career started in 1986 at age 20 when he opened as a featured choreographer and soloist for a Gala of international stars in Montreal.

Mr. Daveluy was guided by mentors such as Ludmilla Chiriaeff, Frank Augustyn, John Hart CBE, Violette Verdy, Andrée Millaire, Daniel Sellier, Vincent Warren, Laurence Haider, Sonia Vartanian, John Stanzel, Natasha Izbinsky, Stanley Williams, Andrei Kramarevsky, Marie-Rose Chammah and Canadian Painter Christian Thibault.

As a choreographer, Mr. Daveluy won a prize from the Du Maurier Arts in Montreal for his One Man Show Daveluy Danse Brel, as well as a Prize for Outstanding Choreography from the Youth America Grand Prix. In 1995, Mr. Daveluy moved to the United States to join Ballet West in Salt Lake City under the direction of John Hart CBE, former Royal Ballet Principal Dancer. In his career, René Daveluy distinguished himself as a lead dancer in renowned ballets by illustrious choreographers such as George Balanchine, Frederick Ashton, Michael Smuin, Willam Christensen, Val Caniparoli, Ben Stevenson and Hans Van Manen.

In 2004, René Daveluy became Artistic Director of Central West Ballet. In 2006, he received the California Stanislaus Arts Council Award for Excellence in Dance. In 2025 Mr. Daveluy was honored along with Leslie Ann Larson as they received the Cultural Roots Award from the Stanislaus Arts Council. For Central West Ballet, Mr. Daveluy has created numerous ballets including Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Nutcracker and Nutcracker in Jazz. In 2015, Mr. Daveluy conceptualized the full-length Legend of Sleepy Hollow, composing the music score and co-choreographing the ballet with Jan Clark Fugit. In 2018, Mr. Daveluy composed the music for Dracula, his second full-length score which he also conceptualized and choreographed. In 2022, his ballet and music score for Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus was presented with a live orchestra in collaboration with Modesto Symphony Orchestra, Opera Modesto and Prospect Theater Project. Daveluy's new music score for Frankenstein was orchestrated by Dashiel Reed. In 2023, Mr. Daveluy collaborated with composer Dale Trumbore on a new ballet entitled She Only Remembers. This new creation was premiered at Central West Ballet's 35th Anniversary Gala. Mr. Daveluy has choroegraphed numerous creations for Central West Ballet such as Pictures at an Exhibition, L'Arlésienne, Love Duets, Pirates & Cowboys, A Parisian in New York, Beneath Existence, Summer Rhapsody, Solitary Workers, 1001 Nights, Canvas Emotions, Of Faeries and Elves, Existence, House of Folk and Nature's Rite

In his dancing career, Mr. Daveluy distinguished himself in roles such as the Lead in Brian MacDonald's Time Out Of Mind and in Judith Marcuse's Tales from the Vaudeville Stage (Banff Festival Ballet), Mr. Daveluy also made his mark as The Teacher in Flemming Flindt’s The Lesson, as Iago in José Limon’s The Moor’s Pavane, and in Balanchine’s Apollo (Ottawa Ballet under Frank Augustyn). In the United States, Mr. Daveluy danced many lead roles such as Oberon in Ashton’s The Dream, Romeo in Michael Smuin’s Romeo & Juliet, Armand in Val Caniparoli’s The Lady of the Camellias, as the Prince in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, as Dr. Falke in Ronald Hynd's Rosalinda, in Balanchine's The Four Temperaments (Sanguinic) and leads in Balanchine's Divertimento #15 and Violin Concerto. He also performed as a lead in Hans van Manen’s Polish Pieces, Solo and Black Cake. He performed Bugle Boy in Paul Taylor’s Company B and as a lead in William Forsythe’s Artifact II. Mr. Daveluy was also a lead in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena and Book of Alleged Dances (Ballet West under directors John Hart CBE and Jonas Kåge).
